Janice is an acclaimed author and distinguished arts professional whose career spans theatre, talent management, creative production, and performance. A visionary former Artistic Director, Talent Agent, Theatre Manager, and Performer, she has spent decades shaping cultural spaces and championing artistic voices across Wales.

Her creative journey began as a student in Swansea, where she founded her first theatre company. There, she wrote, directed, performed in, and toured a wide repertoire of original productions throughout Wales—an early demonstration of her drive, versatility, and talent for storytelling. Janice went on to build a formidable foundation in arts administration and performance at two landmark Welsh institutions: Swansea Grand Theatre and The Grand Pavilion, Porthcawl. These experiences enriched her professional insight, giving her a deep understanding of both the creative and operational sides of the industry.

For more than twenty years, Janice led Catch 22 Productions as its Artistic Director, guiding the company through a period of dynamic growth and artistic achievement. Alongside her theatre work, she has served as the long-standing talent manager for her partner, Cornelius Carr. In 2018, she co-founded Smith Artist Management with former The Bill actor Brandon McConnell; a boutique talent agency dedicated to developing exceptional, authentic performers with integrity and care.

Janice’s debut book, Warrior in Wellington Boots, written during the Covid lockdowns, earned wide praise for its warmth, depth, and compelling narrative voice. She is now completing her second book, Flower of Gower, a powerful multigenerational saga inspired by the Welsh women in her own lineage; women who defied stigma, racism, oppression, misogyny, and class barriers. Her novel is rich with Welsh language, history, and culture, viewed through a female-focused lense, and inspired by family anecodotes. The book will be published in 2026, with  a third book already in development, continuing her momentum as an author of emotionally resonant and culturally significant work.

Janice is also deeply committed to the film project Cornelius, a story she believes has the power to resonate globally.
“I believe that, as a production team, we have the talent and authenticity to create a truly iconic and award-winning British film,” she says. “We possess all the magical ingredients to wow, educate, and inspire audiences throughout the world. Cornelius will stand as an enduring cinematographic tribute to a poor working-class boy who overcame life’s obstacles with dignity and courage to make his name on the world stage.”
